Brian Jones, Composer-in-Residence

Brian Jones is the director of choirs at Canton Middle School and Canton High School in Canton, CT, where he teaches four choirs, two chamber ensembles, and AP Music Theory. In his 10+ years as a music educator, Brian has been an active member of CT ACDA, serving as R&R chair for middle school repertoire, and is also active in CMEA, having served as a festival ensemble chair at both the middle and high school level. Brian is also a sought after conductor, composer/arranger, and singer. His compositions span from advanced choral music, to repertoire that is both versatile and accessible to young and emerging choirs.
He currently sings in two professional ensembles; Voce, based out of Hartford, CT, and Voices of Concinnity, based out of Mansfield, CT. Both ensembles have performed his music in recordings and concerts, including at Carnegie Hall. He has served as a guest conductor/clinician, and vocal coach for choirs, a cappella groups, and private students.

Brian received his BA in Vocal Performance and CT Teaching Certificate from Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), and his Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of Hartford's Hartt School of Music.


Olivia Black, Guest Conductor

Olivia Black is the choral director at Wheeler Middle and High School in North Stonington, Connecticut, leading a strong program of middle and high school choirs, an advanced high school chamber ensemble, and teaching courses in piano, ukulele, and music theory. Olivia is an avid vocalist throughout New England, currently on the roster of professional ensembles including Voce (Hartford, CT), and Collegium Ancora (Providence, RI), with which she also serves as executive director. Olivia earned the Bachelor of Music degree in music education from Rhode Island College, studying voice and advanced conducting. Passionate about music education, Olivia was a staff conductor with the Rhode Island Children’s Chorus for five years, and conducted the ensemble for the ACDA Eastern Division conference in 2024. In addition to her current teaching responsibilities, Olivia is a frequent guest conductor, and will be conducting the Treble Chorus at the Middle School Eastern Region Festival for CMEA in March, 2025. 


Emmy Dell’Orfano, Pianist-Collaborator

Emmy Dell’Orfano is a graduate student at the University of Connecticut. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Music. She has also earned the UConn Honors Laureate in both the Neag School of Education and the UConn School of Fine Arts. She has fifteen years of piano experience and is a working accompanist and organist in the UConn area. She has ten years of voice training and has studied with Constance Rock and Lisa Williamson. She currently works as a substitute voice and piano teacher at Company ‘N’ Tempo in Cromwell, and as a voice and piano teacher independently. She is also a choral scholar and the substitute music director and organist at St. Mark’s Episcopal Chapel. In the summer, Emmy is the assistant musical director for Glastonbury Youth and Family Services’ summer theater, and she is a songwriting teacher at YPI creative arts camp.​​​​​​​

Emmy has taught choir and musical theater at all grade levels, most recently having done her internship at Illing Middle School in Manchester, teaching seventh and eighth grade choir. During that internship she studied how student participation changes when students are given more opportunities to share their opinions on their music.
